Privacy Policy
Effective November 8, 2026
In short: Hido has no ads, uses no tracking or analytics tools, sells no data and never sends your browsing history anywhere. Your configurations and settings stay on your device. When you use a provider’s service, Hido sends that provider only what it needs to sign you in and limit devices.
1. About Hido
Hido (“we”) is a virtual private network (VPN) connection app for iOS and Android. Hido does not sell network service plans. You use Hido in one of two ways:
- Provider code: you enter the code of a service provider (for example abcvpn) and sign in to an account that provider manages.
- Your own configuration: you add your own link, QR code or configuration file.
Service providers are independent and manage their accounts, servers and data under their own policies. This policy covers only the Hido app and the hido.vn website.
2. Data that stays on your device
The following is stored on your device and never sent to Hido’s servers:
- Connection configurations, server lists, nodes you add and your choices.
- App settings: language, theme, and the country used by Smart mode.
- Your sign-in session with a provider (an authentication token the provider issues). Hido does not store your password.
- Logs and the recent connections list, for your own troubleshooting. They stay on the device and you can clear them in Settings → Advanced.
- Device ID (HWID): a one-way hash made from your device’s identifier, used by providers to limit the number of devices. The original identifier cannot be derived from it.
3. Data Hido sends, and to whom
| Sent to | Data | Why |
|---|---|---|
| The provider you choose (panel and subscription server) | Email and password when you sign in or sign up; authentication token; device ID (HWID); operating system and version; device model; device language; your IP address (part of any network connection) | Signing in, showing your plan and expiry, downloading configurations, limiting devices, deleting your account when you ask |
| The subscription server, when you add your own link | Device ID (HWID), operating system, version, device model, device language, IP address | Downloading and updating the configuration; providers that support it use the HWID to limit devices |
| Hido’s registry (hido.vn, hido.io.vn) | The provider code you enter, your IP address and technical request data | Finding the panel address for the code. The registry only counts lookups per code; technical access logs, if any, are kept briefly to prevent abuse |
| Network check services (Cloudflare, Google, public IP lookup services such as ipinfo.io and ipwho.is) | An ordinary network request, including your IP address | Measuring ping and speed and showing your current IP address and country, only when you use those features |
Once connected, your traffic goes through the servers of the provider you chose (or the servers in your configuration). Hido does not route that traffic through Hido’s servers.
4. Permissions the app asks for
- VPN configuration: to create the connection. Your system asks you the first time you connect.
- Camera: only when you scan a QR code. Images are not stored or sent.
- Photos: only when you pick an image containing a QR code. Hido reads only the image you pick.
- Notifications (Android): to show the connection status.
- Installed apps (Android): so you can choose which apps use the connection. The list is used on the device only and never sent.
5. What Hido never does
- Record or send your browsing history, the domains you visit or the content you view.
- Show ads, or use third-party analytics, tracking or crash-reporting SDKs.
- Sell, rent or share your data for advertising.
- Track you across other apps or websites.
6. You control your data
- Delete your provider account: Account → Details → Delete account (for providers that support it), or follow the Delete account page.
- Sign out: removes the session and that provider’s configuration from the device.
- Remove all data on the device: uninstall Hido. On iOS the device ID is kept in the Keychain so providers don’t count a reinstall as a new device; to remove it completely, reset the device or ask your provider to remove the device.
- Data your provider holds (account, orders, registered devices) is managed by the provider; contact them to access, correct or delete it.
7. Children
Hido is not intended for people under 18 and does not knowingly collect children’s data.
8. Security
Connections to the registry and to providers’ panels use HTTPS. Your sign-in session is stored in the app’s private data area, which other apps cannot read; on iOS the device ID is kept in the Keychain. No measure is perfect, but we keep data to a minimum to reduce risk.
9. Changes
When this policy changes, we update this page and the effective date at the top. Important changes are announced in the app.
10. Contact
Privacy questions: [email protected]. Account and plan questions: contact your provider.
